Kathy's Story
Kathy Kaluza Morris has been a special educator for 40 years. She has been a speech therapist, teacher in self-contained classes for students with emotional disturbances, autism and cerebral palsy. She was also a resource teacher, diagnostician and supervisor before becoming a consultant for behavior, autism, LIFE Skills and assistive technology at an education service center in Texas. She started her own consulting firm specializing in autism and behavior in 1999. As an adjunct professor, she taught a course in applied behavior analysis for teachers.
Kathy was honored as Outstanding Educator for Children with Disabilities in 1997. She was also selected as a delegate for the President's Commission on Special Education in 2002. She is an international/national speaker at many conferences and seminars, including Bureau of Education and Research.
Her favorite topic is her family. Kathy's husband, Guy, has been a special educator for students with behavior differences and co-presents. Their oldest son, Guy V, is a gifted speaker and special education teacher. Their twin sons, Kirk and Drew, have Fragile X Syndrome and autism spectrum disorders. Kirk also has cerebral palsy. Guy and Kathy's family "walks the walk as well as talks the talk.”
